East Limestone Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the residence of eastern Limestone county. East Limestone Fire Department currently has an ISO rating of 5. ELVFD serves a primary response area of 56 square miles. This response area is made up of roughly 14,000 residence and 10,000 structures. The structures protected include 26 churches, 5 schools, multiple businesses, and thousands of residential structures. In addition the primary response area ELVFD provides mutual aid with multiple surrounding departments. East Limestone Fire Department currently has a roster of about 25 members. ELVFD is a 100% volunteer department that operates on a small fire fee collected through property tax and donations.
